Dr. Amit Joshi was awarded a NIH R35 MIRA (Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award) ESI (Early-Stage Investigator) for his project, Mechanisms of organelle biogenesis at the endoplasmic reticulum subdomains. MIRA ESI are awarded to outstanding early-stage investigators which provides them stability and flexibility to investigate challenging problems in the field. In this project, Dr. Joshi will identify the proteins and lipids enriched at the ER subdomains where new organelles such as peroxisomes and lipid droplets form. This will help understand the basic principles of organelle formation and function.
