Two graduate students in Tessa Burch-Smith’s lab were awarded federal money to carry out their research. Amie Sankoh was awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science foundation to study the formation of plasmodesmata. Jessica Fernandez was given a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research (NIH F31) fellowship for a proposal to investigate the role of retrograde signaling on intercellular trafficking.
