BCMB graduate students, Nathan Brady (Bruce lab) and Debalina Acharyya (Prosser lab), along with Matt Tuttle from Microbiology, took first prize in the Scipreneur Challenge for their project Light Energy Applied Photosynthetic (LEAPh) Systems. This project aims to harness the power of photosynthesis for biological based photovoltaics. They were awarded $2000. This was the first annual SciPreneur contest in Knoxville. Nathan and Matt will be next be pitching this idea at the statewide Life Science Tennessee Convention this Thursday.
