Drs. Jerome Baudry and Jeremy Smith published an article in Science Signaling entitled: A computationally identified compound antagonizes excess FGF-23 signaling in renal tubules and a mouse model of hypophosphatemia. This collaboration between researchers at UT-Knoxville, ORNL, Earlham College, Tennessee Technology University and UT-Memphis used computational approaches to identify compounds to bind fibroblast growth factor-23 rather than the receptors. Experiments confirmed that this may be a
new therapeutic approach for drug design. Click here to access the article online.
